Problem:

Associations have a hidden gem that can open up revenue streams quickly, but usually fail to exploit it.

Situation:

I’ve been a member of many associations in the past and really struggled with the concept of dropping 1K+ on a booth at a conference or sponsoring an event on top of whatever membership fee I paid to simply “be a member”. Don’t get me wrong, these can be great opportunities, but ultimately I see them as short-term opportunities both for me and for the association.

I kept asking myself, “Outside of conferences and events, what other opportunities do I have as an affiliate member?”.

No opportunities

We had a booth at a recent conference for association professionals. I remember looking around the room, seeing other exhibitors and doing some math. Knowing the cost of the booth, I added up the amount of booths and divided that total by 12 months.

Let’s just take $10,000 in revenue from exhibitor booths. Sounds like a lot at first. We’ll, you divide that by 12 and get about $833 per month. Sounds great right? Wrong.

Start subtracting the cost of running the event and the number become slightly more depressing. The worst part is that in order to sustain that revenue, you need to keep selling the same opportunities year after year. This, of course, take staff time and resources to make possible.

This got me thinking.

What if an association could earn revenue without always having to host a physical event or constantly work to obtain sponsors?

Could there be a way to provide more exposure and value to affiliate members (like myself), members and create a recurring stream of revenue in the process?

The answer is YES!

Solution:

The way to create a NEW recurring stream of revenue for your association from affiliate members is by providing them with a way to publish incredibly helpful content to your members.

It’s 2016. Most of your affiliate members (serving associations) are probably blogging, sharing on social media and doing everything they can to attract new clients in the association space. I know they are because we are one of them 🙂

This is a much more targeted way for your affiliate members to reach their targeted audience without having to build their own.

Your association provides them an avenue to take useful, not totally promotional, content and share it with your members. It’s a win-win for all 3 parties.

Your members get access to useful content.

Your affiliate members get a much higher level of quality exposure they wouldn’t get through the noisy world of the web.

YOU get a free way to increase member value and engagement. Oh, and you increase revenue in the process!

You can make all of this possible through your online member community.

In the video below, I’ll walk you through EXACTLY what to do to setup a complete affiliate member publishing system.

You’ll walk away understanding how to:

  • Setup your online member community
  • Create an affiliate member payment form for handling re-curring payments
  • Automatically assign a ‘Contributor’ role to affiliate members
  • Create a front-end blog post submission section in your member community
  • Approve new posts being submitted by your affiliate members
  • Create a group for only affiliate members so you can keep them engaged, publishing content and convert affiliate members that haven’t taken advantage of the opportunity

Action:

Now that you have a better understanding of how to setup and run an affiliate member publishing opportunity, it’s time to put it into action. Otherwise, you are leaving money on the table every day that goes by without it.

All you need to do is sign up for Social HubSite and we’ll help you through the process of setting up, not only your member community, but also the affiliate member publishing opportunity.
