Associations have a hidden gem that can open up revenue streams quickly, but usually fail to exploit it.
I’ve been a member of many associations in the past and really struggled with the concept of dropping 1K+ on a booth at a conference or sponsoring an event on top of whatever membership fee I paid to simply “be a member”. Start subtracting the cost of running the event and the number become slightly more depressing. The worst part is that in order to sustain that revenue, you need to keep selling the same opportunities year after year. This, of course, take staff time and resources to make possible.
